A perfect blend of old and new

Jubilee Place combines old and new – in a particularly striking way. This development project in Brisbane, which was acquired in September 2019, is a unique blend of the historical past and a promising future.

Cheers! For 133 years, the sound of glasses clinking rang out in Brisbane's Jubilee Hotel. Recently, however, Fortitude Valley, Brisbane's hottest up-and-coming neighborhood, has had to do without the services of this time-honored pub. Its two-story brick building is part of the innovative Jubilee Place development project.

A special place, inside and out

A notable feature of Jubilee Place, which opened in March 2022, is a futuristic office tower. That structure's unusual architecture complements and enhances the revitalized historical brick building next door. Connecting the two is a 250 m2 plaza that is open to the public. The new building has 14 stories and includes roughly 18,000 m2 of office space. An external steel beam structure was created to meet the weight restrictions of the M7 Clem Jones traffic tunnel, which runs underneath the site.

As a result, the new cantilevered building requires only four internal supports, making it possible for the building's floors, measuring 1,500 m2, to be open and flexible. These are the best possible conditions for an inspiring working environment. Also contributing to that environment is the office tower's inviting ground floor. A particular eye-catcher is a painting by artist Ben Quilty, commissioned especially for Jubilee Place. Quilty, who has won numerous prizes, is one of Australia's most famous living artists.

Green Star rating demonstrating world leadership

The new construction project was built to meet the highest standards for sustainability. It was awarded a 6-star rating under Green Star, Australia's sustainability rating for buildings. The rating demonstrates world leadership and is the highest category. The factors contributing to this rating include more than 400 m2 of solar panels, the use of rainwater storage tanks, numerous charging stations for electric vehicles, and over 100 parking spaces for bicycles.

Another outstanding feature is the subtropical roof garden, extending over an area of 700 m2. This green oasis, which includes shaded seating areas, helped the property win a Gold rating under the WELL Building Standard, an increasingly important rating system that certifies characteristics of a property that affect human well-being.

Another project of this kind

After The Exchange, which was completed in 2018 in the Canadian city of Vancouver, Jubilee Place is the second high-quality new construction of its kind. Like its predecessor, Jubilee Place is setting new standards for architecture. With its unique symbiosis of a cutting-edge working environment and maximum sustainability, Jubilee Place adds another promising property to the Credit Suisse Asset Management portfolio.
