Changes to the Credit Suisse Asset Management Fixed Income Asia team

Effective May 1, 2022, the Fixed Income Asia team will have the following new setup:
Adrian Chee, Co-Head of Fixed Income Asia, has decided to leave the bank. Lei Zhu, the current Co-Head of Fixed Income Asia, will take over responsibility for the team as of May 1, 2022.
Senior Portfolio Managers Peijiao Yu and Jeffrey Lau will assume the roles of Co-Portfolio Managers for the Credit Suisse (Lux) Asia Corporate Bond Fund and the Credit Suisse (Lux) Fixed Maturity FR Bond Fund 2023 S-IV alongside Lei Zhu as of May 1, 2022.
Senior Portfolio Manager Peijiao Yu and Portfolio Manager Stephen Zhu will become Co-Portfolio Managers for the Credit Suisse (Lux) China RMB Credit Bond Fund alongside Lei Zhu as of May 1, 2022.
Through these internal nominations, we want to ensure continuity and stability. The strategy and structure of the Credit Suisse (Lux) Asia Corporate Bond Fund, the Credit Suisse (Lux) China RMB Credit Bond Fund, and the Credit Suisse (Lux) Fixed Maturity FR Bond Fund 2023 S-IV will remain unchanged, and the investment process will continue to center on generating alpha from active management of duration, sector exposure, and bottom-up issuer selection.
Lei Zhu (MSc, CFA), Managing Director, will assume the role of Head of Fixed Income Asia as of May 1, 2022. She is a Senior Portfolio Manager for Emerging Markets and Asian corporate portfolios and funds, as well as a member of the Emerging Markets Strategy Group. Lei is also a specialist in portfolios with a focus on onshore and offshore renminbi bond markets in China. Lei joined Credit Suisse Asset Management Singapore in 2012 and since then has been managing Asian hard-currency corporate and Asian local-currency solutions. She started her professional investment career in 2005 at DBS Bank in Singapore as a manager of fixed-income portfolios of Asian sovereigns and corporates, specializing in investment-grade and high-yield issuers. In particular, Lei managed renminbi-denominated bond portfolios and USD-denominated global credit funds. She holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and is a CFA charterholder.
Peijiao Yu (MBA, CFA, FRM), Director, is a Fixed Income Senior Portfolio Manager based in Singapore. Prior to joining Credit Suisse Asset Management in 2017, he was a vice president with Citigroup Global Markets in Hong Kong, where he worked for four years as a desk analyst at the emerging-markets credit-trading desk. He was mainly responsible for providing market commentaries and trading strategies across the investment-grade and high-yield space within the Asian G3 bond universe. Peijiao started his career at KPMG China in 2005, where he spent six years in the audit and advisory departments focusing on credit assessment and risk management. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Peking University’s Guanghua School of Management and an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business. Peijiao is a CFA charterholder and also a Financial Risk Manager (FRM).
Jeffrey Lau (B Fin, CFA), Director, is a Fixed Income Senior Portfolio Manager based in Hong Kong and is a member of the Emerging Markets Strategy Group. Prior to joining Credit Suisse Asset Management in 2016, he worked as a fund manager at Generali Investments Asia, managing Asian USD-denominated and local-currency bond funds. Previously, Jeffrey also worked as a fixed-income strategist at Barclays, formulating investment strategy and ideas on Asian and global credits, as well as a credit analyst at Moody’s, focusing on Asian corporate issuers. He started his career in various roles in equity research and corporate finance. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Hong Kong and is a CFA charterholder.
Stephen Zhu (BBM, CFA, FRM), Vice President, is a Fixed Income Portfolio Manager based in Singapore. He joined Credit Suisse Asset Management in 2020. Previously, he was a director and senior credit research analyst in the Chief Investment Office (CIO) at UBS Wealth Management, where he covered Asian high-yield bonds with a focus on Chinese issuers from 2015. Prior to this, he worked at Bloomberg LLP as a fixed-income specialist and regular contributor to Bloomberg Magazine, focusing on credit analytics and portfolio management systems. Stephen holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from the Singapore Management University. He is both a CFA charterholder and Financial Risk Manager (FRM).
