The Municipal Fixed Income Group (Munis) is led by Lori Cohane who has over three decades of experience in the municipal bond market alongside a core team of professionals with experience in fixed income trading and municipal credit analysis.
Portfolios are tailored to the specific objectives, risk parameters, liquidity constraints and tax requirements unique to each client. Both tax-advantaged and taxable portfolios are available for investment.
The strategy places a primary focus on safety and capital preservation, with portfolios diversified on a national or state specific level, emphasizing investment grade general obligation, higher education, and essential purpose revenue bonds. An active approach is employed to identify key market themes to optimize both asset allocation and buy/sell execution. The active strategy focuses on credit, sector, security and yield curve analysis with management performing ongoing and continuous analysis of the credits in each client’s portfolio.
In a highly fragmented market, clients benefit from the group’s institutional access and execution for their accounts from both primary market issuance and secondary market trading. The team has broad access to both national and regional, niche municipal markets through their relationship with over 90 broker-dealers, allowing the strategy to cater to a wide range of tax-exempt and taxable situations.
